MDD Voting Update

With early voting now underway, the City wants to make our residents in the Wise County New Fairview ETJ aware of a situation regarding your ballot in the upcoming MDD election. When you go to the polls, you may be given a provisional ballot to cast your vote, but your vote will be counted.

Like many counties grappling with the rapid growth in Texas, the Wise County Elections Office (counties are responsible for conducting elections, not the city) is working to ensure that eligible addresses in new developments are in the system that provides the correct ballot for voters. We became aware of the issue when one resident was initially unable to vote because their address was missing from the election ballots that are distributed to voters. That resident was able to return to the polling location later that day and successfully voted.

County election officials have reviewed the affected addresses and updated their system to ensure that all eligible voters are correctly included. They will provide assistance to any voter who has questions about their ballot. If you believe that you are eligible to vote on the MDD but do not see it on your ballot, polling officials will provide assistance to any voter who has questions or concerns.
