Keeping New Fairview Beautiful
On February 6, 2023, the City Council created a Keep New Fairview Beautiful (KNFB)
Committee. The Committee is an advisory body that will make recommendations on issues
related to community appearance, beautification, the environment, and entrances into the City. The KNFB Committee is working with city staff to become an affiliate of Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) (https://ktb.org/). KTB affiliates are qualifying cities, counties, or communities that work with KTB to educate and engage Texans to take responsibility for improving their communities. Affiliates are the volunteers who organize local cleanups, design, and implement recycling programs, and educate local populations. KTB also has numerous resources available to affiliates such as grant and funding opportunities, youth programs, assistance with special clean up events.
As part of the KTB affiliate process, the KNFB Committee organized its first clean up event on Saturday, September 30, 2023. The KNFB Committee, City Council, and city staff cleaned up trash and debris along the southbound Hwy 287 frontage road and FM 407. Approximately 25 bags of trash, several tires, construction materials, and other debris were removed. This location was selected because there is constant trash and debris on this Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) rights-of-way, which is an entry point into our community. The KNTB Committee is planning on applying for a TxDOT Green Ribbon Grant for a beautification project for this area.
The KNFB Committee will organize another clean up event in the near future. If you are interested in participating in future events, or in joining the KNFB Committee, please contact the City at 817-638-5366 ext. 1008 or susan@newfairview.org.
On October 15, 2024 the Keep New Fairview Beautiful Committee approved a Strategic Plan.
