In order to improve the quality of life for all citizens, the City of New Fairview strives to ensure safe, high quality development and construction in the city through a systematic permitting and inspection process.
As such, before any building, alteration, demolition, or moving of any building or structure a building permit must be obtained. This includes fences, swimming pools, carports, etc… All building plans will be reviewed for Code Compliance.
All licensed Contractors must register with the city. There is a registration fee of $75 and is valid for twelve months from the date of application.
Homeowners may do their own plumbing and electrical work provided they live in the home and it is homesteaded. If not homesteaded, then a licensed plumber and/or electrician must register with the City to do the work. All rental properties must have work done by a licensed contractor.
The City has adopted the 2003 International Residential Code, the 2003 International Energy Code, and regulations to implement the authority granted by subchapters 212 and 214 of Chapter 214 of the Texas Local Government Code.
To ensure minimal impact on neighboring homes and businesses the City has adopted hours in which work may be done. The erection, excavation, demolition, alteration, or repair work on any building may only occur during the following hours:
Monday – Friday
|June 1 – September 30||6:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.|
|October 1 – May 31||8:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.|
a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
