Texas Election Code Chapter 41.001 states that municipal elections in the State of Texas will be held on the first Saturday of May in an odd-numbered year. The mayor and aldermen are elected for two-year staggered terms of office.
To be eligible for the office of Mayor, a person must be a registered voter in the city and must have resided in the city limits for at least 12 months prior to the election.
To be eligible for the office of Council Member, a person must be a registered vote in the city and reside in the city limits on election day.
The City contracts with the Wise/Denton County Elections Administrator to conduct all municipal elections.
The General Municipal Election is conducted each year on the first Saturday in May. The City Secretary serves as the Chief Election Official for the City of New Fairview and is responsible for conducting all City elections according to the Election Code of the State of Texas. The City of New Fairview will hold a General Election on May 3, 2025.
The City of New Fairview Council is composed of a Mayor and five council members who are elected by majority vote from the City at large. The Mayor shall be elected at the regular municipal election to be held May 2025, and Place 2 and Place 4 shall be elected at the May 2025 general municipal election. Council members for Place 1, Place 3, and Place 5 shall be elected at the May 2026 general municipal election. The Mayor and all Council members are elected for a two-year term and are elected at large.

Elections May 2025
The City of New Fairview General Election will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025. The last day to register to vote for the May 3rd General Election is April 3, 2025.
To be eligible to vote, residents must meet the following requirements:
1. Must be at least 18 years of age; and
2. Must be a registered voter; and
3. Must live in Rhome city limits for one year; and
4. Not convicted of a felony offense or misdemeanor offense involving moral turpitude; (crime involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or immoral criminal offense.); and
5. Must file for one office, cannot file for multiple seats; and
6. Must pass a background investigation.

Applications for City Council will be accepted in the City Secretary's Office for the following dates: January 15, 2025, through February 14, 2025. Applications must be notarized and submitted to the City Secretary.
